Phoenix and the West Valley

Your roof needs work. The panels are in the way.

We take the array off, hand the roofer a clear deck, then put the system back on the new roof and confirm it is producing. One crew owns the solar side start to finish.

Phoenix and the West ValleySolar crew, not a roofing crewBefore and after photo documentation

Most roofing crews will not touch a solar array, and the ones that will are learning on your roof. Panels crack, connectors get forced, ground wires get left off, and nobody finds out until the production report comes back low a month later.

Phoenix Solar Removal is the solar side of a roof job and nothing else. We come off the roof before the tear-off, stage the equipment, and come back when the new roof is on. The roofer keeps the roof job. You get one number for the solar work and one crew to hold accountable for it.

How a detach and reset runs

Four moves, in this order, every time.

01

Shut down and label

The system is powered down at the inverter and the DC side is isolated before a single clamp comes loose. Strings, rails, and hardware get labeled as they come apart so the array goes back the way the engineer drew it.

02

Panels and racking off

Modules come down first, then the racking and the feet. Everything is stacked, padded, and staged where the roofing crew is not working, on site or off, depending on the yard.

03

Roofer works a clear deck

Your roofer tears off and installs on an open roof with no panels to work around and no liability for someone else's equipment. Penetrations from the old mounts are theirs to detail into the new roof.

04

Back on and producing

New feet, new flashing, panels remounted, wire management redone, and the system brought back up. We confirm the inverter is reporting and the array is producing before we call it done.

What we do

The solar side of the job, handled end to end.

Solar Panel Removal

Panels and racking off before the roof job, shut down and labeled so the array goes back the way it came apart.

For Roofing Companies

You keep the roof job. We take the solar side, on your schedule, with photo documentation.

What you are actually hiring

Detach and reset is an electrical job wearing a roofing schedule. The array is a live DC system until it is properly shut down, the modules are glass, and the mounting feet are the reason the roof leaked or did not leak for the last ten years. That is the work: shutdown, removal, staging, remount, reconnection, and proof the system came back up.

  • Removal for a full roof replacement
  • Removal for a leak or a repair under part of the array
  • Remount and reconnection after the new roof is finished
  • Photo documentation of the array before and after, formatted for an insurance claim file
  • Work as a subcontractor to your roofing company, invoiced as its own line

Why the panels are the part that goes wrong

A re-roof under an array has three failure points, and none of them are the shingles. The first is the shutdown: a system that is not properly isolated is a live circuit on a hot roof. The second is the remount: new feet in the wrong place, or old holes left unflashed, and the roof that was just paid for leaks under equipment nobody wants to lift twice.

The third is the reconnection. Panels get put back and nobody checks production. Weeks later the monitoring shows a string down, and the roofer and the solar company each point at the other. We take that whole argument off the table by owning both ends of it.

Questions

Straight answers.

Do I have to use my own roofer?

No. We work either way. Some customers hire us directly and hand their roofer a clear roof; some roofing companies bring us in as the solar sub and keep the roof job. The solar work is priced and invoiced as its own line either way.

Will my system be off the whole time?

The system is offline from the moment the array is disconnected until it is reconnected and tested. The house stays on utility power the entire time, so what you lose is solar production for that window, not electricity. The window depends on the roof scope and gets quoted with the job. More on cost drivers and the offline window.

What happens to the old mounting holes?

Once the array and the feet are off, those penetrations belong to the roof. Your roofer details them into the new roof the same as any other penetration, which is exactly why the panels should be off before the tear-off rather than worked around.

Do you handle the permit?

Permitting depends on the city and on what the job touches. Tell us the address and the scope on the call and we will tell you what the jurisdiction requires for that work.

What if a panel is already cracked or the system was not producing before you got here?

We document the array before anything comes off, in photos, and that documentation goes to you. Pre-existing damage gets found and recorded at the start rather than argued about at the end.

Roof bid in hand? Get the solar number.

Tell us the address, roughly how many panels are up there, and when the roofer wants the deck clear. We will come back with what the solar side of the job takes.
